General FAQs

Do I need to be registered to use Payzone Parking app?

No. If you park regularly, we recommend registering for an account and parking via the app. However, we also have unregistered options in-app and online. Read about our parking options here.

How do I know what parking zone I am in?

In Dublin City parking zones are colour coded and all other councils use letters. You must always check local signage/meters to confirm your zone and that you are in a Payzone parking location.

How do I register for a parking account?

Download our mobile application. It is available on both Android and iOS. 
You can also register for an account on our website.

Do I need a ticket or a tag to park?

Payzone’s parking service does not require you to obtain or display a ticket.

For on-street parking, a tag is not required. The warden validates your parking session by checking your vehicle registration plate.

If you are parking in some of our off-street car park locations a tag is required.

Do I need to use the parking meter?

No, our online and in-app parking services cancel out the need for you to use the parking meter.

How long can I park for?

All Payzone’s parking locations and zones vary in relation to parking restrictions. The rules and regulations are set by each individual local authority or car park operator. Local signage will indicate the tariffs and general rules relating to the area in which you are parking, this should always be adhered to.

How does the parking warden know I paid?

Our system is connected with local parking enforcement suppliers.
The parking wardens on-street will see your mobile payment on their handheld device when they check your vehicle registration details.

Can I park multiple cars?

Yes, you can have as many vehicles on your account as you wish. 
If the vehicle registration you need to park isn't already saved to your account you can add it before starting the parking session.

I was fined/clamped even though I paid for parking by phone, what happened?

Payzone does not handle parking ticket violation disputes.
Payzone can confirm if payment was successful as well as help with any errors that may have occurred. An incorrect zone, a payment not confirmed properly, or an incorrect licence plate are all variables that may warrant a parking ticket. It is important to check if you have parked safely and legally, in the right zone with the correct vehicle. Are my details safe?

Payzone is certified as compliant with ISO 27001 and holds a Level 1 certificate in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

My account

Can I get a copy of my parking transactions?

Yes. Log into your parking account online. Go to the ‘Statements’ tab and you will be able to view/download all your transactions since registering with our service. 
Please be advised you can only search for your transactions three months at a time.

How do I top up my parking account?

When you register you will be asked to select a top up amount and a low balance threshold. We will automatically credit your account with your agreed top-up amount once the account reaches your selected low balance threshold. Customers must ensure that there are sufficient funds available from your chosen payment method to allow Payzone to top-up your parking account when required.

How do I know my parking account balance is running low?

If you have a Payzone parking account, you can check your balance at any time by logging into your account online or within the app. 
Where possible, Payzone will notify registered customers that the card on the account is due to expire.

How do I update my parking account (payment card details, vehicle, mobile number etc)?

You can update your account by logging into your account online or within the app.

How do I select an alternative vehicle that is on my account when using the app?

You can select an alternative vehicle by swiping left on the map view. You can add more vehicles in the account section once you are logged in.

What if I am using the parking app and I do not want my GPS on?

If you have your GPS off, you can use the ‘Zone list’ to select a location. 
Always check local signage to verify your zone.

How do I close my Parking account?

To cancel your account, you can email our customer service team at parking@payzone.ie
Include your mobile number on your account and your vehicle registration in this email. 
We'll ask you to answer the security question on the account and then we can issue a refund of the full account balance to the card on your account.

Can I change my SMS settings for parking reminders?

Yes. You can change your SMS preferences online or within the app.

  • On the mobile app, log in and click the account icon in the top left corner and choose ‘SMS reminder’. 
    Here you will be able to update your SMS settings.
  • On the website, log in to your account and go to the ‘My mobiles’ tab. 
    Select ‘edit’ for the mobile number you wish to change the SMS settings on.

Please note, that if you use Charge-To-Mobile to park, you will always receive a reminder. This is charged at €0.20. Reminders are optional when using other payment channels.

Can I add a vehicle to my account that is already on another account?

Yes. You can do this online or within the app.

  • On the mobile app, click the account icon in the top left corner and choose ‘vehicles’ and select ‘add vehicle’.
  • On the website, log in to your account and go to the ‘add vehicle’ section.

Please be advised that there is a monthly fee per vehicle.

My card details have been updated on my parking account but not by me. How did this happen?

Payzone uses a feature called account updater, which automatically requests card updates in the event that a customer’s card expires or is replaced. 
If your card issuer participates in account updater and provides expiration date updates directly to Payzone, those updates will be applied to your parking account. This is a feature which helps you avoid failed transactions due to an expiry or a replacement of your card.

Off-street parking via toll tag

I ordered a tag for off-street parking from Payzone, but it has been lost/stolen/damaged, what do I do?

Please email us at parking@payzone.ie and we will arrange for a replacement tag to be sent to you.

I am waiting on a replacement toll tag that was lost, will the old tag still work?

No, once a new tag is ordered the old tag will no longer work.

I am entering the carpark and the barrier will not open with my toll tag, what do I do?

Ensure you have your tag correctly installed on your windscreen. Ensure that you have subscribed to include off-street parking on your account and you have added your tag number to your account. If the barrier still does not open, please press the intercom at the car park and quote your tag number to the operator.

I am exiting the car park and the barrier will not open with my toll tag, what do I do?

Please press the intercom at the car park and quote your tag number to the operator.

Off-street parking via registration plate

I am entering the carpark and the barrier will not open, what do I do?

Ensure that you have subscribed to include off-street parking with Q-Park on your account and you have opted in your vehicle registration to your account. If the barrier still does not open, please press the intercom at the car park and quote your vehicle registration to the operator.

I am exiting the carpark and the barrier will not open, what do I do?

Please press the intercom at the carpark and quote your vehicle registration to the operator.

Multi-day tickets

What is a multiday parking ticket?

A multi-day ticket is a periodic ticket e.g. weekly, monthly, or yearly. At present, multiday is only available for certain zones. 
When you purchase a multiday ticket, it will become active immediately.

What parking locations offer multiday tickets?

Local authorities determine which zones offer multiday tickets. 
All multiday ticket options can be viewed under the zone where they are available.

International numbers

I don’t have a Republic of Ireland mobile number; can I still use Payzone’s parking service?

Yes, you can still use the service with your phone number.

I have an international number, but I have not received my verification code after registering for parking?

This may be due to your network or roaming settings. Please call us on 0818 300 161 and we can assist you with this.

Offers

Who can avail of offers in the app?

Offers are available to registered app users with accounts that contain fewer than 10 vehicles. 
Download the app here and register today. 

How do I use the offers?

You can access the available discounts in the Offers tab within the app. 

  1. Choose the offer you would like to avail of 
  2. Tap 'View offer' button
  3. When you're ready to redeem the offer, tap the 'Reveal discount' button
  4. You will reveal either a QR code that can be scanned in-store by a store assistant and applied instantly, or a text-based code that can be entered into a website checkout for online offers.  

What locations can I use the offers in?

The participating companies, and their participating locations are pinned on the map within the app. Details of locations can be found when tapping on any given map pin.

How often can I use an offer?

Offers can only be used once per transaction.

Bike rental

How do I register to rent a bike?

All registered users can avail of Bleeper bike rentals. On your first use, you will need to approve the terms and conditions to start using the service.

How can I unlock a Bleeper bike?

In the Mobility tab, click ‘Scan to Unlock’ either on the map view or after selecting a Bleeper pin. Scan the QR code displayed on the bike. You will need to allow camera permissions while using the Payzone app to use the Bleeper service.

Where can I park my rented bike?

There are designated parking zones displayed on the map in the app. You must park your bike within these areas, but you can cycle the bike outside of these zones. 
Please be advised that failure to park within the designated zones may result in fines or loss of ability to avail of the bike rental service.

I have found a bike, but there is a problem with it (flat tyre, broken saddle etc). What do I do?

If you arrive at a bike and find that some damages will hinder your journey, please contact Bleeper on 01 437 0930.

Can I rent any other brand of bikes in the Payzone app?

At this time, you can only rent a Bleeper bike.

Card machines

I have a shop but trade online also. Can you help with both?

Yes. We offer an online payment gateway that allows you to take payments from your online store too.

Can I choose what type of terminal I get?

Our team will work with you to find the best solution for your business, whether that’s a fixed, portable or wireless device, or a combination.

Who do I contact if my terminal stops working?

If you are having technical issues with your terminal, you can contact our helpdesk or call us on 0818 882 600.
They will try to resolve the issue with you, or they can arrange for an engineer to visit your store if the issue cannot be fixed over the phone.

Are my transactions safe and secure?

Yes, we only use technology that is certified and approved. We can also assist you in becoming PCI compliant, which lowers any monthly PCI fees.

What cards are accepted?

All major debit and credit cards are accepted, including Mastercard, Visa, and American Express (with a separate agreement.) All our card terminals have contactless built-in including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

Can I accept contactless payments and payments over the phone?

All our card terminals support card not-present transactions.

Who will set up my card terminal(s)?

One of our engineers will come out to set up your new terminal & show you how to use it.

I’m a NI / UK Merchant, where can I find a PSR pricing tool?

Fundraising

Who is this fundraising platform for?

Payzone’s Fundraising platform is for anyone who wants to go cashless with their fundraising activities. This includes charities, corporates, schools, clubs, organisations and communities.

We don’t have a website; can we take online donations

Yes, you can still take online donations. 
You can use a donation link and share it on your social media platforms, within email communications, or by using QR codes or NFC technology. 
This link will bring donors directly to the fundraising platform, allowing them to easily make contributions and donations.

How do I get started with Payzone fundraising?

You can sign up for free, with no obligations. Contact our team today
They will talk you through the fundraising platform and help you get set up if you want assistance. 
We can help you with your merchant services setup and discuss any preferences or requirements you may have.
Once your bank account is connected, you can start creating live fundraising activities straight away.

What will the donors see?

The page displayed to the public can be customised to suit your own branding. 
You can share links that point directly to an individual product or campaign, or point donors to a page that contains all your activities, allowing them to choose which ones they would like to support.

What does my donor need to do?

To donate, the donor clicks on the link you have shared; which could point directly to a specific campaign page or to view all your fundraising activities. 
Donors then add their chosen item(s) to their cart, answer any questions you have set, and pay.
You decide if you require donors to register their details and create an account in order to donate.

Do donors need an account?

No, your donors do not need a Payzone account. 
However, if you get a lot of repeat donations, it can be helpful to ask your donors to set up accounts. 
The benefit to your client is that each time they pay you they don’t need to enter all their details again - they just log in. 
The other benefit to them is that within their account they will have a full statement of all payments they have made to all organisations that use Payzone's fundraising platform.

What type of donations can I accept?

You will be able to process donations from Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Where does the funds raised go?

Funds go directly to the bank account, with no middleman. 
If you are using Stripe, the funds will reach your account on a 7-day rolling basis. 
With other merchant service providers, the funds will go directly to your bank account overnight. 
Your bank reconciliation will reflect these settlement periods.

What is Stripe?

Stripe is a payment processor that helps thousands of organisations around the world accept payments online. Stripe enables funds to reach your account quickly and securely. Stripe is certified to PCI Level 1, the highest level of certification available. Stripe is used by thousands of organisations around the world, and it can process payments from all major credit and debit cards.

How will I know when someone has donated?

When a payment is processed a receipt is automatically generated and delivered via email to both your donor and you. 
You also have access to a full suite of reports detailing all payments received.

Can I refund the donors?

Yes, you can issue a full refund or a partial refund. If you choose to issue a refund the donation is automatically refunded to the card used in the purchase.

School payments

How do we get started with the school solution?

What is 'merchant services'?

Merchant services provide the mechanism for payments made using a card to be routed to your bank account. 
You have the option to choose AIBMS or Stripe as your merchant services provider when using our school platform.

Can you upload student data?

Yes, you can upload student data and class information.

We don't have a website, can we take online school payments?

Yes, you can still take online payments with our platform.

Is it easy to include on the school website?

Yes. 
Using our platform, you can create a button to match your branding and you then simply copy and paste the HTML code onto your webpage.

What will parents see?

The page displayed to parents can be customised to suit your school's branding.
